About Birds on Bikes
Birds on Bikes creates women’s cycling apparel designed to help more women feel comfortable, confident and supported on the bike. Based in Brisbane, we make clothing for real riders who want better fit, practical comfort and quality they can rely on, ride after ride.

Hi, I'm Barbara. Here's Why I Started Birds on Bikes.
It started with my husband and a bike.
We began cycling together, and I loved it straight away. But when it came to finding something to wear - something that actually fit me, that I actually wanted to put on - I hit a wall. The options were limited, the sizing was inconsistent, and nothing felt like it was made with my body in mind.
I searched and searched. I tried brand after brand. And I kept coming back to the same frustration: there was plenty of cycling clothing out there, but so little of it was designed for women like me.
So I made my own. And Birds on Bikes was born.
Cycling Clothing Built Around You
Birds on Bikes is built around a simple idea: cycling clothing should help women enjoy the ride more.
I design for real bodies, real comfort needs and real riding conditions — not just a narrow version of what a cyclist is supposed to look like. That means supportive fits, practical pockets, performance fabrics and thoughtful construction, all working together to help you feel better on the bike.
Whether you're new to cycling or have been riding for years, the goal is the same: clothing that helps you focus on the joy of riding, not on adjusting your kit.

Made in Brisbane, with care
Every piece of Birds on Bikes clothing is made in our studio in Annerley, Brisbane. I'm hands-on in the process from design through to production, working with a small team of skilled local machinists who take real pride in what they make.
Making locally means I can stay close to fit, finishing and quality at every stage. It means I know the people making your kit. And it means I can produce thoughtfully, in the quantities that make sense, with the care each piece deserves.
To me, Australian made means staying close to what matters. By keeping production in our Annerley studio, I can focus on the details that make the difference, and create pieces I'm
genuinely proud to put my name on.
Fit that welcomes more women
We want more women to find cycling apparel that feels supportive, comfortable and confidence-building from the first ride. Whether you’re new to cycling or have been riding for years, the goal is the same: clothing that helps you focus on the joy of riding, not on adjusting your kit.

Every Rider Belongs Here
Cycling is for every body. I really believe that. And I built Birds on Bikes so that no woman has to feel left out of the sport because of what's available in her size.
Whether you're a size 6 or a size 24, you'll find the same styles, the same quality, and the same care in the fit. There's no separate plus size section here. There's just cycling clothing for women — all women.
I want more women to find cycling apparel that feels supportive, comfortable and confidence-building from the first ride. Clothing that helps you feel at home on the bike — whatever that ride looks like for you.

Why women choose Birds on Bikes
Women choose Birds on Bikes because they want cycling apparel that's thoughtful, comfortable and made with real riders in mind. Better fit. Useful details. Local craftsmanship. And a brand that understands that comfort isn't a luxury — it's the whole point.

The Breakaway Birds Community
I'm proud to ride alongside a community of women who show up for themselves and each other. Breakaway Birds is about connection, confidence, and celebrating progress — whatever that looks like for you.
I believe cycling should feel accessible, enjoyable and supportive. I believe women deserve clothing that fits properly and performs beautifully. And I believe the right gear can help more women feel at home on the bike.
Thank You for Being Here
