This was never about looking like a professional cyclist
Birds on Bikes began because I couldn’t find cycling clothing that felt comfortable, fitted properly and made me feel like myself.
So much cycling gear seemed designed for elite riders, tiny bodies and racing performance. But many women ride for completely different reasons — for freedom, friendship, fitness, travel, fresh air or simply the joy of getting out on a bike.
I believed those women deserved cycling clothing designed with them in mind.
Hi, I'm Barbara
I founded Birds on Bikes in 2017 after becoming frustrated with the limited cycling clothing available for women like me.
I wanted padded cycling pants that were comfortable, flattering and practical — without low waistbands, awkward seams or the feeling that I needed to look like an athlete before I was allowed to wear them.
What began as a search for something better became a brand built around listening to women and designing for the way they actually ride.

Birds on Bikes is for women who ride rail trails, country roads, bike paths, city streets and neighbourhood loops.
You might be returning to cycling after years away, getting your first e-bike, preparing for a tour, riding with friends or simply wanting to feel more comfortable on the weekend.

Birds on Bikes is a small, independent, women-led Australian business based in Brisbane.
We are not interested in producing clothing simply to follow trends. We want to make pieces that are useful, comfortable and worn again and again.
The business has grown through persistence, customer conversations and a belief that women’s cycling clothing can be better.
