ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon at Birds on Bikes
ECONYL® is a premium regenerated nylon made from rescued waste, engineered to feel smooth, supportive and durable. We use it across our women’s cycling range for opacity, gentle compression, quick-dry comfort and UPF50+. Australian-made in Brisbane, Ethical Clothing Australia accredited, inclusive sizes AU 6–24 and multiple leg lengths—so you get the same trusted fit with a fabric upgrade you can feel.

What is ECONYL®?
ECONYL® is a regenerated nylon yarn engineered by Aquafil. Waste such as fishing nets, carpet offcuts and industrial plastics is collected, depolymerised back to nylon, and re-spun into a high-quality yarn that performs like new.

Why it matters for women who ride
Cycling clothing should help—not distract. ECONYL® gives our shorts, knicks, capris and tights a smoother handfeel and gentle compression that supports without digging in. It stays opaque when stretched, recovers its shape after hours in the saddle, and pairs beautifully with our women’s chamois—so comfort lasts from the first kilometre to the last.
How it feels & performs
Soft yet supportive: lightly compressive with excellent recovery
Ride-ready opacity: no show-through on or off the bike
Breathable & quick-dry: comfortable across seasons
UPF50+: extra sun protection on exposed rides
Long-wear durability: resists pilling and abrasion when cared for

Our make: quality and ethics
All ECONYL® pieces are cut and sewn in Brisbane . Sizes AU 6–24 and multiple leg lengths ensure more riders get a dialled-in fit. Many styles include deep phone pockets and our premium women’s chamois for day-ride comfort.
