Discover How We Make It
Thoughtful design starts with real women
Every Birds on Bikes garment begins with a practical question: how can this feel better on the bike?
Our cycling pants are designed around the needs of everyday women who ride for fun, fitness, transport and adventure. We consider the shape of the waistband, the position of the pockets, the amount of coverage and how the garment moves with the body.
Customer feedback also plays an important part in the process, helping us continue to refine our fit and designs.

Getting the foundations right
Before a garment reaches the sewing machine, the pattern, fit and fabric all need to work together.
We choose supportive stretch fabrics that feel comfortable against the skin and perform while riding. Each pattern is developed to create a secure, flattering fit across our size range, with careful consideration given to proportion, movement and comfort.
Our core cycling pants are available in sizes 6–24 and four leg lengths, because women do not all have the same bodies, heights or preferences.

The details that make a difference
Once the fabric is prepared, each garment is carefully laid out and cut in our Brisbane studio.
Accurate cutting is an important part of achieving a consistent fit. It also allows us to closely check the fabric and prepare each component before it moves to the sewing stage.
We produce in smaller quantities rather than mass-manufacturing large volumes, helping us maintain quality and avoid making more than we need.

Checked before it reaches you
Once a garment is complete, it is checked for stitching, finish and overall quality before being prepared for packing.
Keeping production close means we can see the clothing being made, identify issues quickly and remain accountable for the finished product.
It also allows us to keep learning. When customers tell us what they love or where something could be improved, that feedback stays close to the people designing and making the garments.

Closer production. Greater connection.
Making in Brisbane allows us to stay connected to every stage of the process. We can work in smaller runs, maintain closer control over quality and respond directly to the women who wear our clothing.
Local manufacturing is not always the fastest or cheapest option, but it reflects the kind of business we want Birds on Bikes to be: thoughtful, transparent and closely connected to our customers and community.
