As a size 14, most cycling gear left her feeling squeezed, self-conscious and very much like she had been “squished in like a sausage.”

Meet Barbara
Birds on Bikes was founded by Brisbane designer Barbara Spooner after she struggled to find cycling clothing that felt comfortable, flattering and stylish.
As a size 14 and a new cyclist, Barbara saw a gap for women-specific gear designed for real bodies. What began with the thought, “How hard can this be?” grew into a brand focused on helping women feel confident and comfortable on every ride.
