What Kind of Riding Do You Do?
Choose Based on How You Ride
Start with: BOB Unders
BOB Unders are a great first step if you do not want to feel like you’re wearing full cycling kit. They give you lightweight padded support under your everyday clothes, making them ideal for commuting, casual rides, travel days and relaxed weekend spins.
Best for: Casual rides, e-bikes, commuting, travel, wearing under loose clothing.
tart with: Women’s Padded Bike Pants
Our padded bike pants are a customer favourite for everyday riding. They are supportive, comfortable and easy to get on and off, with a high-rise fit and practical options across different leg lengths.
Best for: Social rides, fitness rides, bike paths, longer weekend rides and women who prefer a waistband style.
Start with: Cycling Bibs
If waistbands bother you, cycling bibs might be your new best friend. Instead of relying on a waistband, bibs use shoulder straps to keep everything in place, which can feel smoother and more comfortable on longer rides.
Best for: Longer rides, women who hate tight waistbands, riders wanting secure all-day comfort.
Start with: Thermal Tights or Winter Bibs
For chilly mornings and winter rides, our thermal cycling gear gives you warmth and support without bulky layers. Designed for comfort, movement and coverage, they’re made to help you keep riding through the cooler months.
Best for: Winter rides, early mornings, cooler climates and women who feel the cold.
Not Sure About Leg Length?
Choose the Length That Feels Right for You
One of the best things about Birds on Bikes is that you do not have to settle for one standard length. Different riders like different coverage — and that’s okay.
Worried About Choosing the Right Size?
We get it. Buying cycling gear online can feel tricky, especially if you’ve had bad experiences with bike shorts before.
Birds on Bikes is designed with real women’s bodies in mind, not just standard sample sizing. Our gear is made to support curves, stay comfortable in a riding position and help you feel secure on the bike.

Why I Started Birds on Bikes
Birds on Bikes started because I could not find women’s cycling gear that fit properly, felt comfortable and made me feel good on the bike.
Too many options felt like they were made for one body type — and if they didn’t fit, it felt like your body was the problem.
It wasn’t.
So I created Birds on Bikes for women who want to ride in gear that supports them properly. Gear that feels good. Gear that fits curves. Gear that gives you comfort and confidence, whether you’re riding five kilometres or fifty.
Today, Birds on Bikes is made in Brisbane and continues to be designed for real women who ride their own way.

Not Sure Where To Start
Questions Customers Ask When Choosing Cycling Gear
Riding Style Questions
BOB Unders are great for casual rides because you can wear them under skirts, dresses, loose pants, shorts or activewear.
For longer rides, choose padded bike pants or bibs with a quality chamois and supportive fabric.
BOB Unders are ideal if you want padded comfort under your everyday clothes. Padded bike pants are better if you’re commuting longer distances.
For short, casual e-bike rides, BOB Unders are a great option. For longer rides, padded bike pants or bibs will offer more support.
Choose gear that gives you reliable comfort over multiple days. Padded bike pants, bibs and BOB Unders can all work depending on how much riding you’ll be doing and what you want to wear off the bike.
Start with something comfortable and confidence-building, like padded bike pants or BOB Unders. The goal is to feel good enough to keep riding.
Fit & Comfort
A great starting point is padded bike pants or BOB Unders, depending on whether you want to wear full cycling gear or keep things more casual.
Bike pants have a waistband, bibs use shoulder straps instead of a waistband, and unders are lightweight padded shorts designed to wear under everyday clothes.
Choose bike pants if you prefer something easy to wear and familiar. Choose bibs if you dislike waistband pressure or want extra comfort on longer rides.
Cycling bibs are usually the best option because they don’t rely on a waistband to stay up.
A higher-rise style with supportive fabric is usually best if waistband roll-down has been an issue before.
Choose based on your current measurements rather than the size you usually buy in other brands. Cycling gear should feel supportive, not restrictive.
If you prefer a firmer, more compressive fit, choose the smaller size. If you prefer more room or are sensitive to pressure, choose the larger size.
Yes. Birds on Bikes makes women’s cycling gear in sizes 6–24, with a focus on comfort, curves and real women’s bodies.
Padding / Chamois Questions
If you’re riding regularly or feeling saddle discomfort, padded cycling shorts can make a big difference.
A chamois is the padded insert inside cycling shorts, bike pants, bibs or unders. It helps reduce pressure and friction while riding.
For casual rides, lightweight padding may be enough. For longer rides, choose a more supportive chamois designed for extended time in the saddle.
Generally, no. Padded cycling shorts are designed to be worn without underwear so the chamois can sit smoothly against the body and reduce friction.
They can help reduce pressure and rubbing, but saddle comfort also depends on your bike fit, saddle shape, riding position and time on the bike.
Length & Coverage Questions
Choose based on comfort, coverage and weather. Shorts are cooler, 3/4 length gives knee coverage, capri/7/8 gives more lower-leg coverage, and full length is best for cooler weather.
Yes. 3/4 length is one of the most versatile starting points because it offers coverage without feeling too warm.
Bike shorts, BOB Unders or lightweight capri styles are usually best for warmer weather.
Thermal tights or winter bibs are best for cool mornings and colder rides.
Choose 3/4, capri or full-length bike pants for more coverage.
Fabric & Practical Questions
No. Our bike pants are made using supportive, quality fabrics chosen for coverage, comfort and confidence. We know nobody wants to worry about see-through fabric when bending, riding or moving, so opacity is an important part of how we choose and test our fabrics.
Yes. Birds on Bikes gear is designed to feel firm and supportive without feeling restrictive. The fabric should hold you comfortably, move with your body and help everything feel secure while you ride.

Many of our styles include pockets, which are handy for your phone, keys, snacks or other ride essentials. Check the individual product description to see which styles have pockets and where they are placed.
Our padded bike pants and bibs are designed with comfort in mind, including thoughtful seam placement, supportive fabrics and quality chamois options to help reduce rubbing and pressure. Chafing can also depend on fit, saddle shape, bike setup and how long you’re riding, so choosing the right size and style is important.

Confidence / Emotional Questions
No — and you definitely do not need to look like a racer to enjoy riding. Birds on Bikes is designed for real women who want to feel comfortable, confident and supported on the bike. The right gear should help you enjoy the ride, not make you feel self-conscious.
Yes, but it’s not only for serious cyclists. Birds on Bikes is for women who ride for fitness, friendship, freedom, commuting, travel and fun. Whether you’re riding 5km or 50km, you deserve gear that feels good.
Absolutely. You do not have to be fast, super fit or ride long distances to wear comfortable cycling gear. Birds on Bikes is for women at all stages of their riding journey, including beginners and women getting back on the bike after a break.
Yes. In fact, many women come to Birds on Bikes because they are returning to riding and want gear that helps them feel comfortable and confident. A good first pair can make getting back on the bike feel much easier.
